Website repair service

Find the fault. Fix it properly.

Our website repair service fixes broken layouts, error messages, slow pages and hacked sites, WordPress included. We find the cause before we touch anything.

Common faults

What is wrong with my website?

Most faults show up as one of a few symptoms. This is what usually sits behind each.

SymptomUsual causesWhat we do
A blank page or “critical error”A plugin or theme conflict, or a PHP upgradeRead the logs, then fix or replace the culprit
“Error establishing a database connection”Wrong database details or damaged tablesCorrect the settings and repair the tables
Layout broken after an updateCustom code overwritten, or clashing stylesRebuild the changes so updates can’t undo them
Spam pages, odd redirects or a Google warningA hack through an outdated plugin or stolen passwordClean the site and close the way in

How it works

How we repair a website

  1. Back up first

The files and database are copied before anything changes.

  2. Diagnose

We read the logs and reproduce the fault on a private copy where we can.

  3. Fix and test

We fix the cause, then test pages, forms and checkout on desktop and phone.

  4. Report back

A plain summary of what was wrong, what changed and how to stop it recurring.

Questions

Questions about website repairs

Question not here? Send it to us and we will answer it directly.

Ask a question

Can you fix a WordPress site someone else built?

Yes. We don’t need the original developer, only access: an admin login for the site and a login for your hosting or SFTP. The safest way is to create a separate admin account for us, which you delete once the repair is finished.

My site has been hacked. What should I do first?

Change your hosting and site passwords, then contact us before deleting anything, because the damaged files show how the attacker got in. A proper clean removes the malicious code, closes the gap and checks the database. If Google has flagged the site, we request a review once it’s clean.

Why is my website so slow?

Usually large images, too many plugins loading scripts on every page, no caching or hosting that can’t keep up. Test any page with Google’s PageSpeed Insights, which reports the Core Web Vitals. We measure the same way, fix the biggest causes first and test again.

What does a website repair cost?

It depends on the fault, so we look before we quote, then send a fixed price for the fix. No recent backup, a hack that has spread to other sites on the same hosting account or heavily customised code all make the job bigger.

Should we repair our site or replace it?

Repair it when the design still works and the fault is contained. Replace it when it breaks with every update, struggles on phones or no longer fits the business. We tell you which we would choose, and our website design page covers rebuilds.

Before you write to us

A screenshot of the problem and the exact wording of any error message save time. Tell us which company hosts the site and when it was last backed up, if you know. Keep passwords out of that first email; we arrange safe access once you accept the quote.

Get a fixed price from our website repair service

Send the site address and a short description of what’s going wrong. We look at the problem, explain what’s causing it and price the repair in writing. The quote is free. Every job with our website repair service starts that way.
