Flyer design

Built for a quick glance.

Good flyer design gets one message across before the reader decides to keep it or bin it. We shape the headline, layout and next step.

What works

What makes a flyer worth keeping?

A flyer has a moment to work, so it needs one job. Pick the single thing you want the reader to do, then point everything at it: a headline that states the offer, one strong image, the essentials of when and where, and a clear way to respond.

We plan the back too. That is where the detail lives, from a map to a short list of services, for the readers who turn it over.

Sizes

Common flyer sizes

Stocks run from 130 gsm silk for handouts to 350 gsm card for flyers people should keep. In the US, ask your printer for 100 lb gloss text or a cover weight.

Questions

Questions about flyer design

Ask a question

Leaflet or flyer: what’s the difference?

In everyday use, a flyer is a single unfolded sheet and a leaflet is often folded, though printers use the words loosely. If your message needs more than two sides, a folded leaflet or a short brochure will serve it better. The design rules hold either way: one message, a clear order of reading and an obvious next step.

Can you design flyers for door-to-door delivery?

Yes. For door drops we keep the offer and your name readable even when the flyer lands half-folded on a doormat. We also check the size and weight against the delivery service’s rules before anything is printed, since Royal Mail, USPS and local distributors each set their own limits.

How do you price flyer design?

By the number of designs and versions. One single-sided flyer is the quickest job. Double-sided layouts, extra sizes, versions in another language and a set of social crops each add a little time. If you print flyers every month, ask us about a template your own team can update.

Should a flyer include prices?

If price is the reason to act, yes. A clear “from” price or a dated offer gives the reader a reason to hold on to the flyer. If your prices move often, print them on a sticker or send people to a web page instead, so a price change doesn’t force a reprint.

Running a campaign?

A flyer works harder when the poster, the social post and the landing page all say the same thing. We can design the set together, so anyone who sees it twice recognises it straight away, and you only need to brief us once.
