Email marketing services

Permission first, then the message.

Our email marketing services put a well-written message in the inbox of people who asked to hear from you. We plan, design, write and send.

What it covers

What do email marketing services include?

The plan, the list, the template, the words and the sending. We work inside your own email platform, so the list and every email stay yours, and we agree a rhythm you can keep up: one good newsletter a month beats four rushed ones.

The law comes first, because an email nobody agreed to is spam whoever sends it. In the UK the rules are UK GDPR and PECR, explained by the ICO; in South Africa, POPIA, overseen by the Information Regulator; in the USA, CAN-SPAM. We build the list, the sign-up form and the footer to the strictest rule that applies to your readers.

Email is part of our social media and marketing line.

Email templates

What is in an email template?

An HTML email template is the reusable frame every campaign is poured into. Email template design has rules of its own, because inboxes are far less forgiving than browsers. We test each template in the main inboxes on phone and desktop before loading it into your platform.

  • One column, 600 pixels wideReads on a phone without pinching and sits centred on a desktop. Headline, picture, text, button, in that order.
  • Live text, not pictures of textMany inboxes block images until the reader allows them, so the message has to survive with every picture missing.
  • Buttons that work everywhereBuilt from code rather than an image, so they show in Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail, in light and dark mode.
  • A footer that satisfies the lawYour organisation’s name and postal address, a working unsubscribe link and the reason the reader is receiving the email.

Email newsletters

Which kind of email are you sending?

An email newsletter is the regular one; the others go out when there is something to say. Email newsletter design follows the same rule as a printed one: a lead story, two or three shorter pieces and one thing you want the reader to do.

TypeWhat it is forRhythm
NewsletterNews, advice and one offer, to keep you in mindMonthly or fortnightly
PromotionA single offer with a deadline and one buttonWhen you have one
AnnouncementA launch, a move, a new service or a price changeAs it happens
Event invitationDate, place, why to come and how to bookInvite, reminder, last call

Automated emails

How do automated emails work?

Email automation sends the right message when something happens, without anyone pressing send. The most useful is a welcome email sequence for new subscribers; follow-ups after an enquiry, a purchase or an abandoned basket come next.

  1. Choose the trigger

A new subscriber, a form sent, a first order, a basket left behind or a date reached. Each sequence has one.

  2. Map the sequence

How many emails, how far apart and what each must do. A welcome sequence usually thanks, introduces, shows proof and then asks.

  3. Write, build and test

Each email written in your voice and built in your template, with stop rules so a reply or a purchase ends the sequence. We run it to test addresses before it goes live.

Questions

Questions about email marketing services

Question not here? Send it to us and we will answer it directly.

Ask a question

How do we start?

Email hello@redfoxbranding.com or use the project form with what you want to send, how often and to whom. We then ask for an invitation to your email platform, your logo and a note on how your list was gathered. If you have no platform yet, we recommend one that suits your size and set it up in your name.

Can we email people who have not subscribed?

It depends where they are, and the answer is usually no. UK rules and South Africa’s POPIA both need consent, or an existing customer relationship with a clear way to opt out offered at the time. CAN-SPAM in the USA allows unsolicited email but demands a truthful header, a postal address and an opt-out honoured promptly. We follow the strictest rule your list touches.

Do you send from your own system?

No. Everything runs in your own account on your own email platform, so the list, the templates and the sending history belong to you, and we work as an invited user. That also keeps your sender reputation separate from anyone else’s, which matters, because inbox providers judge the sender as much as the message.

How do we collect consent properly?

With a sign-up form that says plainly what people will receive and how often, an unticked box they tick themselves, and a record of when they did. For EB Fuels the quote form carries a POPIA consent box, so every enquiry arrives with permission recorded. We build the same into your forms.

What results do you report?

Delivered, clicked, replied and unsubscribed, for each send and each automated sequence, with a short note on what we would change. We don’t promise open rates or sales: open figures are unreliable now that some mail apps load every email in the background, and sales depend on the offer and the list. Clicks and replies are the honest measures.

Writing the emails yourself?

Have the template and a short style guide built, then write each issue in-house. Our copywriting team can edit before each send, and the email signature for everyday mail can match the template, so every message from your organisation looks like it came from the same place.

Tell us what you want to send, how often and roughly how many people are on your list. We reply with a fixed quote for the template, the writing and the sending, in pounds, dollars or rand, and nothing starts until you agree to it. That is how our email marketing services begin.
